About this Site

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the
Official Community Website of Portland, Tennessee!

We hope that this web site will be used by all of us who live in Portland, Tennessee, as well as by individuals and companies that are considering moving to Portland.  We also think it will contain useful information for visitors to our community.

We want this web site to be a community resource.  Whenever you find information that is of interest to your fellow Portlanders, please take a minute to pass it onto us.  We will make sure it gets posted quickly.  Please see the Contact Us page for how to get in touch with us.

There is no fee for non-profit organizations (schools, churches, government, fraternal organizations, community service organizations, etc.)   We appreciate the support of the businesses and industries who help us provide this community service by becoming sponsors of the web site.

This site was started in September 1999 by Charlie Myers who has lived in Portland since 1993.  In 2002, Leonard Berry joined our team.  Charlie serves as the webmaster of the site; and Leonard handles sales, accounting and Customer Service.

In May 2002, we decided we needed a more formal business "identity" and structure.  Therefore, on May 9, 2002, we formed a corporation in the State of Tennessee.  Our new name is NMT Web Designs, LLC.  (In case you are wondering, NMT stands for Northern Middle Tennessee.)

Terms of Use

We are very happy to accept information from everyone in the community.  We frequently receive information from the City, from churches, from organizations holding special events, etc.  We are glad to publish this information for free.  All information we receive is assumed to be accurate, but we cannot guarantee it in 100% of the cases.

Starting in 2001, we began to ask for fees from businesses and small businesses to help defray our costs (which are getting exorbitant as we now have about 400 pages on the web site).

Any information we publish in an ad for a business is assumed to be accurate, but (again) we cannot guarantee it in 100% of the cases.  It is the responsibility of the person who ordered the ad to check it on the web site to make sure we got it correct.  (We try to get them all correct, but we have a few bad days ourselves, so you need to check!)  It is also the responsibility of the person who placed the ad to let us know when we need to make changes, for example, when your business hours change.

We are glad to fix any error in the web site, and we appreciate users who let us know when they find inaccurate data.

We are happy to accept photographs people submit.  However, please don't submit copyrighted material.

All clipart that we use on the web site comes from www.clipart.com, and we pay a yearly fee to each for using their service.

All business transactions with us are through NMT Web Designs, LLC.

Thank you!

Donates Original Ronnie McDowell Painting to the
City of Portland!
Charlie Myers and Leonard Berry, founders of www.portlandtn.com, purchased Ronnie McDowell's original painting Strawberry Time and donated it to the City of Portland for permanent display in City Hall.  In addition, www.portlandtn.com purchased limited-edition print #1 of Ronnie's classic I'll Be Home for Christmas.  Both of these items were presented to Mayor Jim Calloway in a ceremony at City Hall on Monday, January 14, 2002, 3:00 p.m.  Ronnie was at the ceremony, and the public was invited to attend!
