Albert Dittes

Local journalist Albert Dittes is a member of the Highland Adventist community south of Portland.  He is the son of Dr. Albert and Elinor Dittes.

Dittes served as the local correspondent for the News-Examiner, Tennessean and former Nashville Banner.  He also hosted an early-morning talk show on WQKR-AM in Portland.

History has always been a major area of interest for Dittes.  He is an experienced writer and researcher and has done extensive study on the Adventist Movement here in Tennessee in the late 1800s and early 1900s. 

Dittes received a bachelor's degree in history from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee (1967); a Masters of Divinity from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan (1969); and a masters degree in journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio (1983).

Besides his interest in history, Dittes is a pianist and organist.  He performs regularly for church services, weddings and social events.  He and his wife Patricia have two children and five grandchildren and live in Portland.
