The History
Brown Mechanical Service, Inc. is a family owned and operated business in
Portland, Tennessee. Philip Brown, owner and operator, is the third generation
to provide great service in the heat and air business, beginning with his
grandfather in the 1950’s.
The Experience
Philip’s training in the heat and air business began early in his teenage years.
He has since cultivated his expertise by completing the courses and testing for
several certifications. He has successfully acquired the licenses for Tennessee
Mechanical and HVAC, Kentucky Masters and Journeyman HVAC, Kentucky Masters
Electrical, EPA Refrigerant, and Tennessee Commercial Contractors. Philip and
his service men believe that knowledge will let them serve you more efficiently.
The Location
Brown Mechanical is located in the heart of Portland on South Broadway.
Consistent with the family style business, the office is nestled in the same
building with Jack’s Barber Shop, owned by his father-in-law, Jack Jones, and
where his wife, Angela, is employed.
The Services
Brown Mechanical Service, Inc. offers sales, installation, service and repair of
residential and commercial equipment including, but not limited to, Carrier,
Bryant, York, Rheem, Goodman, Coleman, and Anderson. They are fully able to
service all brands of air conditioning and heating systems whether they sell
that brand or not.
Their services also include spring and fall checks for homes as well as
industrial to make sure your system stays in good working order.
The Hours
The regular working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
However, they always have a representative on call, even on nights and weekends,
to better serve you and to remedy any problems you may be experiencing.
In the event of a problem after hours, all a customer has to do is call the
office and leave a message including their name and phone number. A
representative will get back to them promptly.
The Brown Mechanical Family
Owners - Philip and Angela Brown have been married 21 years and living in the
Portland area all their lives. They both graduated from Portland High School.
They have two daughters, Jessie and Annie Beth. Jessie is a student at Portland
High School, and Annie Beth is a student at Portland West Middle School. As a
family, they are all involved in various sports including volleyball and
basketball. They are also very active in their church.
Service Technician – Bobby and his wife, Kendra, live in Gallatin with their
one-year-old daughter, Kolby. Kendra teaches Wellness at Station Camp High
School and also is the Head Coach of the girl’s high school basketball team.
Bobby enjoys playing racquetball during his spare time.
Service Technician – Brad and his wife, Mary, live in Franklin, Kentucky with
their fourteen-year-old daughter, Amber. Mary works in home health care and
Amber attends Franklin Middle School. Together, they are very involved with
their church, Franklin Providence Baptist.
Service Technician – Jeremy is a graduate of Portland High School and lives in
Portland with his four year old daughter, Callie. He likes to spend his spare
time in the outdoors – camping and fishing as much as he can.
