Lasandra Walter and a Goffin Cockatoo baby that she raised.

These are Conures raised by Hookbill Haven® Aviary right here in Portland.

The bird of the left is an Amazon Parrot.  The bird on the right is a Cockatoo, Both birds were raised by Hookbill Haven Aviary.

Lasandra Walter has spent the last 25 years breeding and hand feeding exotic birds.  Lasandra has lived in Portland for the last 18 years, and she actually raises the birds from her home in Portland.  Pictured above are a few of the parrots raised by Hookbill Haven Aviary.  Lasandra typically raise Amazons, African Greys, Cockatoos, Pionus Parrots, Conures, Senegals, Lovebirds and many others.

Lasandra is a member of the American Federation of Aviculture, the Society of Parrot Breeders and Exhibitors, African Lovebird Society and the National Wildlife Federation and has had numerous Best In Show wins with her parrots and Lovebirds.  Lasandra is also a published author and has won several awards for her bird photographs.

Lasandra says, "This is not a business but more a very expensive hobby."  She does not make a profit in raising the birds, but simply does it because she loves to.  From time to time, she does have birds available for sale, and since she is well-known nationally, her birds are always in demand.  The money received from selling the birds helps pay the expenses.

Many of the parrots at Hookbill Haven Aviary can talk, and some can even do tricks!
