Provides emergency assistance including food, clothing, prescriptions, utilities
and rent to people in need within available resources.
Benevolence Services Hours:
Monday thru Thursday, 9:00 a.m. thru 3:00 p.m.
Friday, 9:00 a.m. thru 1:00 p.m.
Thrift Store Hours:
Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturdays 9:00
a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
(Except for holidays and inclement weather conditions)
Volunteers Needed!
Portland C.A.R.E.S. in always in need of volunteers. If you
have a little extra time that you'd like to spend helping others, please
give us a call. We would definitely like to meet you!

Portland C.A.R.E.S.:
- Receives requests for assistance from people in need.
- Receives information and referrals from other agencies for assistance,
and provides information and referrals to other agencies for clients coming
to Portland C.A.R.E.S.
- Accepts donations - food, clothing, furniture, etc.
- Distributes food baskets of staple items (always in steady demand).
- Works with volunteers and staff to provide the best possible assistance for those people who come to Portland C.A.R.E.S. directly or are referred to Portland C.A.R.E.S. by local churches, organizations or other agencies.
Thrift Store
Our thrift store includes clothing, books, shoes, toys, household items.
- Clothing and household items donated to the thrift store help expand the
purchasing power of customers by providing a variety of items at minimal
expense.
- Money from the sale of donated items is used for the assistance program
(helping those in need with financial assistance, food, prescription
medicine, etc.) and operating expenses.
- The thrift store is operated by staff members with assistance from
volunteers from local churches and the community at large.
- Contributions and donations to Portland C.A.R.E.S. are tax-deductible.

Organized by local churches in a cooperative effort to assist persons in need, Portland C.A.R.E.S. is funded in part by:
- United Way of Sumner County.
- Portland area churches.
- City of Portland.
- Project HELP (Portland Gas & Water Department).
- Federal Emergency Management Agency.
- Financial contributions and donations from businesses, industries, civic clubs and individuals.
