This is one of the oldest structures in Sumner County.  Thomas Baskerville donated land for a school in 1857 about three miles south of (what is now) the intersection of U.S. 31-W and TN109.  The log school was built on that site.  During the Civil War, the site was called Camp Trousdale and was an early staging area for the training of Confederate troops.  The log school became a hospital for troops during this period of time.  The log school later was used as a tobacco stripping house.

In 1975, the school was moved to its current location in Richland Park where it serves as a museum of local history.  The school contains collections of books, old photographs, Civil War and Bicentennial memorabilia.
