We want this web site to be a community resource for the people of Portland. We receive no funds from the City of Portland nor from the Chamber of Commerce to operate this web site. We appreciate the businesses and industries who choose to be a sponsor of www.PortlandTN.com. In addition to showing their support for our community, sponsors receive a page on the web site where they can showcase their business or industry.

Non-profit organizations Free

Schools, churches, government, fraternal organizations, community service organizations, etc.: No charge. Any of these organizations may also have a free web page if they like.

Supporting Sponsors

Supporting Sponsors provide our main means of support for keeping this web site in operation. Being a Supporting Sponsor tells others that you care about the future of Portland.

A Supporting Sponsor receives a web page where they may showcase their business or service. This web page may contain text, photos, clip art and/or links to a corporate web site. We will be glad to scan pictures or take digital pictures, and we can help you with the text.

The cost of a Supporting Sponsorship is $35 per month or $350 per year.

Contributing Sponsors

This is similar to the above. However, it has a limit of two photos on the web page. In addition, when printed, the web page must fit on one 8-1/2 x 11 piece of paper. The cost is only $150 per year. Note: this sponsorship is not available to businesses in the categories listed directly on the home page (e.g., apartments, banks, hotels, hospitals, real estate).

Basic Listings

In the past, we have listed any non-sponsor business in town with their name address and phone number. We are phasing out that free service. However, a business is welcome to continue being listed in this manner for a small charge of $50 per year. This entitles the business to be listed in one category (their choice). The $50 listing may also include an e-mail address if desired, but it may not contain a link to a web site.

Tips of Formatting a Web Page on this Site

For consistency, all data on your web page must conform to the same format as the rest of the www.portlandtn.com web site (i.e., you'll have a title at the top and the same kind of background as every other page.)

No offensive material of any kind is permitted on the web site.

You may send text or digital photos for use on your web page to us via e-mail or via floppy disk. We like .gif and .jpg photos.

If you like, you may mail us regular photos which we will scan. We will return the photos to you. However, we cannot be responsible for photos that might get lost of damaged in the mail.

We are glad to pick up stuff from you at your store/office in town.

If you are sending digital photos, please send "small" ones. We cannot publish any photo with a file size greater than 50kB. If we put a photo bigger than this on a web page, it makes the web page far too slow to display.

Your web page must consist of fairly static data. Example: it cannot contain weekly specials or something like that. We will be glad to make minor changes from time to time (e.g., business hours change in the summer, new phone number, etc.). (If you do want weekly specials or something like that, we can probably do that for a small additional fee!)

We cannot use a photo or clipart that is copyrighted unless we have the proper copyright release.
